Under FRCP 37(e)(1) a court can impose curative measures for lost electronically stored information with no finding of bad faith. Failing to take reasonable steps to preserve is enough on its own. Where a preservation letter arrived and was ignored, 37(e)(2) opens the door to an adverse-inference instruction. The SD card in the cab does not know any of that, and it overwrites on schedule.
02 / Why it matters

The duty to preserve attaches when litigation is reasonably anticipated, not when a complaint is served. Every record you are required to keep outlasts the only record that shows what happened, by two to three orders of magnitude.

Three minutes starting at the impact does not show the fifteen minutes that explain it: the merge, the following distance, the vehicle that cut in and left. We archive the whole file, byte for byte, because the exculpatory frame is rarely the one the accelerometer picked.

Anyone can copy a file to a shared drive. Nobody there can prove what it was when it arrived, who opened it, or that it was never trimmed. Custody is the part opposing counsel attacks, so it is the part we build first.

Bulk upload full files from a depot workstation, straight from the SD card of any DVR you already own. Resumable, so a dropped connection at 80 percent does not start over.

No UPDATE or DELETE grant exists on this table at the database role level. Not for your admins, not for our engineers. The trail cannot be tidied up before an export, which is the only reason it is worth anything in a deposition.
05 / What we don’t do
Ray has driven for fifteen years and distrusts anything that watches him. He is not the buyer, and he decides whether this works. So these are positions, not roadmap gaps.
No driver scoring.No rankings, no safety grades, no leaderboards. A driver who believes the archive is a scorecard stops reporting incidents, and an archive nobody feeds is worth nothing.
No browsing footage by driver.Supervisors search by truck, by date and by incident. The entry points are deliberate, and following a person around is not one of them.
No live cabin streaming.This is an archive, not a window into the cab. There is no view of what a driver is doing right now, for anyone, at any tier.
The vendor cannot watch your cabins.Platform operators are blocked from tenant video in every environment. Support access is time-boxed, requires a logged reason, and appears in your own audit feed.
No re-encoding your original.Compression happens in the proxy we generate for playback. The file counsel receives is the file that came off the card.
No claims we cannot stand behind.You will not find a statistic here about how often video wins cases, or a promise about your insurance renewal. Neither is substantiated, so neither gets said.
